Welcome to A PATH WORTH TAKING
Hello and yes, I am the same Diana Stevan, who’s the Canadian author of 7 novels, a short story collection, and a self-help book which you can read about on my other website. Or you can read My Bio here.

A Path Worth Taking
But this website is about A PATH WORTH TAKING, my new self-help book and memoir, coming out in early February, 2027.

On this site, I’ll be sharing tips on managing life’s emotional roller coaster and other ideas from my 25 years as a family therapist in various mental health settings and in my own private practice. So, I hope you bookmark this page and keep coming back.
Over the years, I dealt with a wide range of emotional and social problems. People from all walks of life came to me with problems of depression, addiction, anxiety, childhood trauma, post-traumatic stress, parenting issues, school truancy, bullying at school, conflict in the workplace, stress management, marital breakdown, suicidal thoughts, career dissatisfaction, and mental health worries.
In A Path Worth Taking, you’ll find Chapters on:
- How Therapy has Evolved Over Time
- How Nature and Nurture Affect You
- What Your Roots Say
- Your Patterns and Habits
- The Many Faces of Depression
- Anger Management
- Reality Underlined
- Addiction
- Choices
- What to Look for in Relationships

And More. Since I find so much solace in gardening and nature, I’ve peppered this book with thoughts and anecdotes found outdoors. Nature has much to offer, as any gardener or nature-lover will tell you.
Therapy is Confidential
So many people from all walks of life trusted me with their personal challenges. Though I’ll be sharing stories and insights from my work, I will continue to keep confidential who I helped and what they said. To divulge any of this is against the code of ethics I accepted as a clinical social worker and family therapist.
Counseling Helps Many
I loved being a therapist. I not only helped many—individuals, couples, and families—but I also helped myself in the process. I learned what works, and what doesn’t to build a loving foundation in a marriage and family. I also learned what it takes to develop a strong resilient self. I arrived at this understanding through my work helping others and through getting help when I needed it.
All of us experience emotional pain in life.
Talking to a stranger about your emotional pain isn’t easy, even if that stranger is a therapist. I know that from personal experience, because I sought counseling help when I stumbled, too, and needed help.
In A Path Worth Taking, I show what you can do to make life easier and more enjoyable, and how to get the emotional help you need when you need it.
You can Sign up for MY NEWSLETTER: Hearts and Pages. In my monthly newsletter, I’ll be sharing what I’ve been up to, what I’m working on, and what books I’m reading.

Warmly,
